Water Resources

CamEO’s ambition to safeguard water resources seeks to ensure that there is enough water of sufficient quality to support the needs of the environment and the wider society. Low flows in rivers causes more fine sediment (silt) to settle on the river bed, rather than being transported downstream. This reduced water movement also decreases the amount of dissolved oxygen available, whilst the increased silt levels can clog up gravels that are needed for fish spawning and invertebrates.

Specific Partnership Objectives

  • Encourage and promote the adoption of best practice for water resource management throughout society. This includes water efficiency, capture and storage.
  • Provide mechanisms for CamEO partners to engage with and influence water resource management.
